Forming leaders for meaningful work and societal transformation
The Centre for Transformational Leadership (CTL) exists to respond to a growing crisis in leadership, work, and public life—a crisis not merely of competence, but of formation.
Across organisations and institutions, leadership is often reduced to technique, efficiency, or personal advancement. Work is treated as a transaction rather than a vocation. Success is measured by outcomes, while questions of character, responsibility, and the common good are left unexamined.
CTL was established to address this gap.
We believe that lasting transformation—whether in workplaces, communities, or nations—begins not with systems alone, but with formed people.
Leadership, in our understanding, is not defined first by position or authority, but by responsibility—towards people, institutions, and the future. Work is not merely economic activity, but a vital sphere where dignity is affirmed, values are embodied, and society is either strengthened or diminished.
Â
For this reason, CTL focuses not merely on training leaders to do more, but on forming leaders to think deeply, act responsibly, and serve faithfully.
At the heart of CTL is a simple but demanding conviction:
Â
Who a person is becoming matters more than what they are achieving.
Transformation, as we understand it, is neither cosmetic nor immediate. It is not achieved through motivation alone, nor sustained by technical skill in isolation.
Â
True transformation is:
It involves the reshaping of assumptions, the alignment of values with practice, and the recovery of purpose in work and leadership.
Â
CTL’s learning experiences therefore prioritise reflection, dialogue, and discernment. Participants are invited to wrestle with fundamental questions of meaning, power, faith, ethics, and public responsibility—within the realities of their professional and personal lives.
A central pillar of CTL’s philosophy is a renewed understanding of work as vocation.
Â
We reject the false divide between sacred and secular work, as well as the reduction of work to productivity, profit, or survival. Instead, we approach work as a calling—a space where individuals contribute to human flourishing, institutional integrity, and societal wellbeing.
Â
This perspective enables leaders and professionals to:
CTL understands leadership not as dominance or visibility, but as responsibility.
Â
Leadership carries moral weight. Decisions affect lives, shape institutions, and influence future generations. For this reason, leadership formation must attend not only to skills and strategy, but also to conscience, character, and accountability.
Â
CTL seeks to cultivate leaders who are:
CTL learning experiences are intentionally:
We integrate interdisciplinary perspectives, drawing from theology, social thought, leadership studies, and organisational life. Learning at CTL is demanding, yet humane—designed to shape not only how participants lead, but how they understand work, power, and responsibility.
Our flagship offering, Workplace Transformation, developed in partnership with Bakke Graduate University, reflects this commitment. It invites participants into a rigorous journey that connects personal formation with institutional and societal impact.
CTL is shaped by a Christian vision of the human person and society. At the same time, our work is intentionally public-facing and hospitable, engaging individuals from diverse backgrounds who are open to thoughtful engagement with questions of faith, work, and leadership.
We believe faith has profound implications for how work is understood, how leadership is exercised, and how society is served—without retreating from the complexities of pluralistic public life.
CTL is an expression of Patris Empowerment Initiative, a non-profit organisation committed to forming people who can become agents of change for human flourishing and societal transformation.
Within the wider Patris ecosystem—alongside spiritual formation, education, and advocacy—CTL focuses specifically on the formation of adults, professionals, and leaders. Together, these expressions reflect a holistic vision: from inner formation to public responsibility, from education to advocacy, from individuals to institutions.
CTL does not offer quick fixes or easy answers. Instead, we offer an invitation—to pause, to reflect, and to engage in the slow, demanding work of formation.
CTL exists to equip leaders and professionals for meaningful work, responsible leadership, and societal transformation—starting from the inside out.
